Tiffany & Co. Dives Under The Sea For High Jewellery Blue Book 2023

If you are looking for a splash of color and sparkle this summer, look no further than Tiffany & Co's latest high jewelry collection, Blue Book 2023: Out of the Blue. Inspired by the legendary designer Jean Schlumberger and his fascination with the mystical creatures of the sea, this collection is a dazzling tribute to his artistic vision and craftsmanship.

Out of the Blue: A Celebration of Schlumberger's Legacy

Jean Schlumberger was one of the most influential and innovative jewelry designers of the 20th century, who joined Tiffany & Co. in 1956 and created some of the most iconic pieces for the house, such as the Bird on a Rock brooch, the Ribbon Rosette necklace, and the Sea Anemone bracelet. His designs were admired by celebrities, royals, and socialites, such as Audrey Hepburn, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Elizabeth Taylor, and Bunny Mellon.

Schlumberger was also captivated by the beauty and mystery of the ocean and often incorporated marine motifs and symbols into his creations. He used vibrant gemstones, enamel, gold, and platinum to evoke the shapes, colors, and movements of sea creatures, such as shells, corals, jellyfish, starfish, and sea urchins. His jewelry was not only exquisite but also whimsical and playful, reflecting his imaginative personality and sense of humor.

Tiffany & Co.'s new Blue Book Collection honors Schlumberger's legacy by reinterpreting some of his signature designs with a modern twist. The collection features seven themes that explore different aspects of aquatic life, each showcasing the finest gems and craftsmanship that Tiffany & Co. is renowned for.

Dive into the Depths of Out of the Blue

The Shell theme showcases the three-dimensionality of objects sculpted by the ocean, such as a stunning pendant that transforms into a detachable diamond brooch revealing a breathtaking black opal over 21 carats.

The Coral theme bursts with exuberant hues of tanzanite, sapphires, and yellow diamonds that contrast with the white gold and platinum settings. The designs are inspired by the organic shapes and textures of corals and their vibrant ecosystems.

The Jellyfish theme captures the graceful movement and luminescence of these ethereal creatures with diamonds, pearls, opals, aquamarines, and tourmalines. The designs are delicate and fluid, creating a mesmerizing effect.

The Pisces theme delves into the mysteries of the sea with warm hues of unenhanced padparadscha sapphires, Umba sapphires, and diamonds that complement the cool blues of the ocean. The design features stylized fish motifs that evoke Schlumberger's love for nature and fantasy.

The Star Urchin theme embraces the dramatic nature of the ocean with tanzanite and hand-carved chalcedony that emulate the spiky exterior of sea urchins. The designs are bold and sculptural, creating a striking contrast with the smoothness of the gems.

The Starfish theme reimagines the iconic silhouette of these ocean dwellers with opals, aquamarines, tourmalines, beryls, and diamonds. The designs are intricate and elegant, creating a sense of movement and depth.

The Sea Star theme features custom-cut mother-of-pearl starfish entwined in coral-inspired motifs with padparadscha sapphires, Umbra sapphires, mother-of-pearl, and carnelians. The designs are colorful and charming, creating a captivating snapshot of the sea's fascinating ecosystem.
