Tiger Woods Joins PGA Tour Policy Boards As Player Director

Tiger Woods, one of the greatest golfers of all time, has joined the PGA Tour's Policy Board as a player director. The moves comes as the tour faces increasing competition from the Saudi-backed LIV Golf Invitational Series.

Woods, who is recovering from a car crash in February 2021, will be the sixth player director on the board. The other, five player directors are Patrick Cantlay Hoffman, Peter Malnati, Rory Mcllroy, and Webb Simpson.

"I am honored to represent the players of the PGA Tour", Woods said in a statement. "I believe the Tour is at a critical point and I am committed to doing my part to help shape its future".

The Policy Board is responsible for setting the tour's policies and procedures. Woods's appointment gives the players a stronger voice in the decision-making process.

"Tiger is a global icon and his insights and experience will be invaluable to the Policy Board", said PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan. "I am confident that he will be a strong advocate for the players".

The move to add Woods to the Policy Board is seen as a way to appease the players who are unhappy with the tour's handling of the LIV Golf threat. The LIV Gold series is offering golfers huge sums of money to defect from the PGA Tour.

"I am excited to work with the other player directors and Commissioner Monahan to ensure that the PGA Tour remains the best gold tour in the world", Woods said.

The addition of Woods to the Policy Board is a significant development for the PGA Tour. It shows that the tour is willing to listen to the players and give them a greater say in the decision-making process. It remains to be seen whether this will be enough to keep the players from defecting to the LIV Golf series. However, it is a step in the right direction for the PGA Tour.

In addition to his role on the Policy Board, Woods is also expected to play a key role in promoting the PGA Tour. He is one of the most popular golfers in the world, and his endorsement could help the tour attract new fans and sponsors.

The addition of Woods to the PGA, Tour's leadership team is a sign that the tour is serious about competing with the LIV Golf series. With Woods on board, the PGA Tour has a strong advocate for its players and its brand.

The move is also a personal victory for Woods. He has been through a lot in recent years, but he is still committed to the PGA Tour. His appointment to the Policy Board shows that he is still a force in the game of golf.

It will be interesting to see how Woods's appointment affects the LIV Golf series. The LIV Golfs series has been offering golfers huge sums of money to defect from the PGA Tour. However, with Woods on board, the PGA Tour is now in a stronger position to compete with the LIV Golf series.

The next few months will be critical for the PGA Tour. The tour will need to convince its players to stay local and it will need to attract new fans and sponsors. With Woods on board, the PGA Tour is in a good position to achieve both of these goals.
