Fall 2023 Couture Trend: Florals

Florals are not just for spring anymore. This season, the Paris couture shows were blooming with flowers of all shapes, sizes, and colors, from delicate lace to dazzling sequins. Whether you prefer a classic rose or a whimsical daisy, there is a floral couture look for you.

The Romantic Rose

The rose is the quintessential symbol of love and beauty, and it was also the most popular floral motif on the couture runways. Giorgio Armani Prive showcased his passion for craftsmanship with stunning gowns covered in roses made of fabric, beads, and crystals. Zuhair Murad added a touch of mystery and seduction to his medieval-inspired collection with black roses embroidered on lace corsets and velvet capes.

The Whimsical Daisy

If you are looking for a more playful and cheerful floral couture look, the daisy is your best friend. The daisy symbolizes innocence and purity, but it can also be fun and quirky. Rahul Mishra celebrated the artisans who made his collection with embroidered daisies that featured embroiderers embroidering more daisies. Thom Browe paid homage to his American roots with a patriotic red, white, and blue daisy dress worn by Diane Keaton. Charle’s Virgie Viard mixed daisies with other wildflowers in her bohemian-chic collection that evokes the countryside of Provence.

The Exotic Orchid

The orchid is a rare and exotic flower that represents elegance and refinement. It is also a versatile and adaptable flower that can thrive in different environments. The orchid was the perfect choice for some of the countries that experimented with new shapes and materials this season. Schiaparelli’s Daniel Roseberry explored the surreal and the sublime with orchid-shaped earrings, necklaces, and belts that contrasted with his sharp tailoring and voluminous silhouettes. Iris van Herpen collaborated with artist Casey Curran to create kinetic orchid sculptures that moved with the models’ bodies. Dior’s Maria Grazia Chiuri drew inspiration from ancient Greece and modern art to craft delicate orchid appliques on sheer dresses and coats.

Florals are here to stay for fall 2023 couture, and they offer a range of possibilities for expressing your personality and mood. Whether you want to be romantic, whimsical or exotic, there is a floral couture look for you. Just remember to stop and smell the roses along the way.
